About our community
METIP members engage with each other in four main ways
Quarterly webinars
Group members meet on a quarterly basis to network, share our work, and learn from each other and experts in other fields. Quarterly webinars are typically 1.5 hours long. During this time, we typically have 1-3 experts present on a topic and then discuss how that topic applies to our work in the trafficking field.
Discussion forum
The listserv is the primary method of communication with the group. Meeting dates and topics, information about the annual conference, invitations to salons, and follow-up information from meetings are all shared through the listserv. METIP members can use the listserv to pose short-answer questions to the group or post jobs, announcements, articles/publications, and events.
Topical salons
At any time throughout the year, a METIP member can request to facilitate a salon to discuss a specific, time-sensitive issue that they are working on. The salon will then be scheduled within the next couple of weeks, and any METIP members who are available and interested can join. During salons, the facilitator presents the issue to the attendees, and METIP members help brainstorm solutions and identify additional considerations.
Annual conference
Once a year, we like to meet in-person for a two-day conference. During this time, we like to dive deeper into the issues affecting our field, and, when possible, publish a list of generally agreed-upon recommendations or considerations on those issues. The conference is also a time for members to get to know each other better and update the rest of the group on their work.
Note: Due to COVID-19, the 2021 annual conference will be an online-only experience.
METIP Documents
Through our website you will be able to access the latest documents produced and shared by the METIP network. This can include official documents showcasing the main outcomes from our events, job postings, among other things.
Meet the Steering Committee
METIP is managed by a voluntary Steering Committee. The Steering Committee is composed of interested METIP members. The group meets virtually about every two months to plan quarterly webinars, salons, and the annual conference.
New members always welcome.

The METIP community of practice was founded around 2013 in Washington DC. A small group of monitoring and evaluating staff from NGOs and consultancies met monthly to share their knowledge, challenges and successes with measuring anti-trafficking interventions in the United States and around the world.
The Freedom Fund currently acts as the Secretariat for this voluntary membership group, taking the reins from International Justice Mission who served as the Chair during 2017 – 2020 and Free the Slave during 2013 – 2017. Over the past 7 years, the METIP community has grown from a small group of M&E staff to a global network that includes iNGOs, academic institutions, and national and international governmental agencies.
